Why extract wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, typically emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. In many cases, they do not have enough space to grow properly. This can lead to pain, infections, shifting of other teeth, or cyst formation.
At Soins dentaires Stephan, we assess the position and condition of your wisdom teeth through clinical and radiographic exams to determine whether extraction is necessary.
How the extraction works
Depending on the position and development of the teeth, the extraction may be simple or surgical. After local anesthesia (and sometimes sedation for added comfort), we carefully remove the teeth while minimizing trauma to surrounding tissues. The procedure typically takes between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case.
Follow-up and recovery
After the extraction, we provide detailed instructions regarding oral hygiene, diet, and pain management. Most patients are able to return to normal activities within 2 to 5 days.
